Max Loss

Max Loss

The overall loss limit on your account, and which type applies to you.

Max Loss is the overall loss limit on your account. If your balance or equity falls below it at any point, the account is breached and trading stops.

Every account has a Max Loss. What differs is how the limit moves as you trade, and that is set by the account you bought.

The Max Loss type on your account is shown in your Dashboard and in the rules article for your account.

The five types

Type

How the limit moves

Static Max Loss

Fixed from your starting balance. It never moves.

EOD Trailing Max Loss

Sits below your end-of-day high watermark and moves up once a day.

Balance Trailing Max Loss

Sits below your balance high watermark and moves up when a winning trade closes.

Equity Trailing Max Loss

Sits below your equity high watermark and moves up in real time.

Payout Trailing Max Loss

Set from your starting balance and shrinks by your share of each payout.

Each type has its own article with the percentages that apply.

Max Loss and Max Daily Loss

Max Loss applies across the whole life of the account. Max Daily Loss is a separate limit that resets every trading day. Breaching either one ends the account.

Increasing your allowance

The Extra Max Loss Add-On adds 1% to your Max Loss limit for the life of the account. Reaching Rank 2 in the Experience Program adds a further 1% on the models that apply rank benefits.
